Lise - mother and client of Physio for All
I used the services of Physio for All when Rosa, our 6 months old
daughter got bronchiolitis for the first time. We initially took her to
the GP, who referred us to the A&E department of Chelsea & Westminster.
We made a total of 3 visits to the emergency department over 3 days,
where on the last visit they wanted to keep her in overnight, incubate
her and put her on oxygen. She luckily responded well to an inhaler
(which they warned us babies may or may not respond to) and we were
allowed to take her home, but she stopped responding to the inhaler and
got worse again.
I then by pure chance found out about Physio for All's
baby chest physio treatment and after the first treatment Rosa could
actually sleep, followed by feeding. We took her a couple of times more
and she steadily improved.
I was quite upset that at no time did the NHS tell us that there IS an
alternative to hospitalising your child with a tube down the nose and
oxygen mask on. Parents and babies go through so much unnecessary stress
and the babies suffer for longer than they need to when actually the
alternative is a very simple, safe and effective physio treatment and it
is a shame the NHS does not offer or at the very least inform parents of
the option so they can make their own choice. It made a huge difference
to us as parents to have an option that gave her immediate and prolonged
relief, as Rosa got Bronchiolitis about 5 times that winter.
